Easily Teach the meaning of christmas to your kids

It seems with each passing year, the meaning of Christmas becomes more and more of an insignificance.
I have the fondest memories as a child, playing with glass figures from the nativity I knew I wasn't allowed to touch and not truly knowing how precious they were.
There are so many renditions to the Story of Jesus' birth, but the most simple way to explain it to a child is by using one common holiday treat:
A candy cane.
Have you ever stopped and wondered why the candy cane became a staple of Christmas? Every little detail, down to the minty, sweet flavor represents the story of Jesus.
When you give your child one of these sweet treats this Christmas, take this as an opportunity to share the true meaning of the season. Each element is so simple, and easily grasped by sweet children with wondering eyes and open hearts.
Here's how you break it down:
WHITE CANDY: the candy starts out white, this represents the purity of Jesus' soul
CANE SHAPE & LETTER J: When turned upright, the cane shape represents a shepards crook, reminding us of the first to know of His birth, as they were visited by an angel that night. "J' represents Jesus, the baby born to save us from our sins by sacrificing Himself.
RED STRIPES: the red stripes the entangle a classic candy cane represent the blood that Jesus shed on the cross for our sins
SWEET, MINTY FLAVOR: Peppermint, similar to hyssop, was used as a purification in the Old Testament. This further represents the purity of Christ.

J IS FOR JESUS, THE SWEETEST STORY EVER TOLD:
This is my FAVORITE version of the story, because it's short, simply worded, and has big, bright pictures perfect for capturing little eyes. I read this to my preschoolers every year, and it's absolutely perfect.
